As the name implies, FASHIONCLASH creates a 'clash' around fashion. 'Clash’ stands for an inspiring encounter of different designers, disciplines and a diverse audience. Promising photographer Madame Peripetie brought the work of a number of talents together and the result is the eye-popping campaign image.

Save the date for the weekend of 8th until 10th ofJune that will be all about he fourth edition of the fashion event FASHIONCLASHMaastricht!

FASHIONCLASH STORE in Rechtstraat 88 in Maastricht is closing and so far there is no alternate location. We had the space for temporary use and the contract has ended.
21 st of January is the last day that the store will open doors. There is an extra discount of 20 % at the cashdesk on 19, 20 and 21 January.

Soirée Artistique II with FASHIONCLASH

The second edition of will take place this weekend (Sunday 8th January). An afternoon with music, history, chocolate, and fashion. Fashion designers Annemarije van Harten, Saba Tark and Anya Liesnik designed outfits for the presenters of the event.
The programme features works by Maastricht 19th century composers such as Alexander Batta (1816-1902), Joseph Hollmann (1852-1926), Andrée Bonhomme (1905 – 1982) and Jean Franssen (1893-1978).The music pieces will be introduced by two presenters, Els Roobroeck and Joost Horward, with clothing designed specifically for this project by the these fashion designers.
FASHIONCLASH invited the designers to design outfits inspired by the featured composers and the time when they lived.

Sunday January 8th from 15.30 (14.30 introduction by Jac van den Boogard) in La Bonbonnière in Maastricht. TICKETS!

Charlotte Kan is a Dutch womenswear designer. She started her label Charlotte Kan in 2008, a year after graduating cum laude at the Willem de Kooning academy in Rotterdam. Charlotte Kan is inspired by girls that take fashionable self-portraits. This translates into a highly wearable collection with a minimal cut and clever detailing. The collection is designed and produced in small editions in her studio in Rotterdam.
Starting February 2011 each month a new design is produced and presented in the project Play&Pose. In this project fashion bloggers are asked to photograph themselves in new Charlotte Kan designs. This way the garment is presented by the wearer itself. Pretty cool!

SS2012 Play&Pose with fashion bloggersCharlotte Kan gave 10 SS2012 garments to 10 fashion bloggers. They were free to style the items and combine them with their own garments. During Amsterdam Fashionweek they were photographed by Carina Hesper for the Play&Pose lookbook.

Last night, Fashion Across Borders (FAB) has opened the doors of the unique young designer store in Hasselt.
Young designers from the Meuse-Rhine region are displaying and selling their designs in the shopping gallery 'De Wate Vrienden', located in the heart of the city on the Grote Markt (Grand Market). In the FAB-store you can find unique fashion, jewellery and accessoires by young designers.
FAB STORE is just FABULOUS! The whole team has worked hard to make it happen. Laurens Hamacher of FASHIONCLASH made the store look great.
FAB store Hasselt is open from Wednesday till Saturday from November 4th 2011 utill June 1st 2012.

The preparations for the 4th edition of FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2012 have started in full speed. In the meantime city of Maastricht is getting ready for the second year of 'Magisch Maastricht' (Magical Maastricht event in the month of December).

The city will be lightend and very cosy. FASHIONCLASH is taking this opportunity to put designers in the spotlight.
3 + 4 December FASHIONCLASH DESIGNER MARKET will take place in cities beautiful Centre Ceramique (the public library).

For this market we are looking for 'young' designers from various disciplines (fashion, design, furniture, jewellery, accessoires, textile etc.)

Conditions

- Designers are expected to be there on both days and are responsible for their own sale
- The Market is open on 3rd december 10:00-15:00 and 4th december 13:00-17:00.
- Installation of the stand is from 08:30-09:45 / dismantling17:00-18:30
- Designers are responsible for the insurrance. FASHIONCLASH is not responsible for theft or damage to the product.

FASHIONCLASH provides:
- tables and chairs- clothing racks- bags- few mannequins - flyers and poster- pr- organisation of the stands

Branko Popovic and Nawie Kuiper to Runway Malta

Founders of FASHIONCLASH, Nawie Kuiper and Branko Popovic, are invited to show their collections during the first edition of Runway Malta.

Runway Malta is the first full day international fashion event of its kind on the island.
Set across the beautiful Montekristo Estates, the event will take place from 1pm - Midnight incorporating fashion, music, exhibitions and installations from local and international designers and artists.
Like a true Fashion Week, Runway Malta will have catwalk shows hourly inside the theatre, a big outdoor Chill Out Zone, Exhibition hall featuring jewellery, make up, massage and a fully fledged after-party on the rooftop with some of the best DJs in Malta and from abroad.

Scheduled for the event are fashion shows from labels from Malta such as Kaii Couture, Fat Gold and Charles & Ron and international New Generation designers Gori de Palma from Spain, Hasan Hejazi from Uk and Branko Popovic and Nawie Kuiper from Holland.
Nawie Kuiper and Branko Popovic will show their collections that premiered on FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2011 in June.

Runway Malta will take place 4th September.

For those who have missed FASHIONCLASH Fashion Procession on 5h of July, FASHIOCLASH Maastricht 2011 or window display of de Bijenkorf Maastricht, this is your last chance to see the creations of this unique project. Until the 10th of July thirteen selected creations are exhibited in Bergportaal of St. Servaas church in Maastricht. Studio Kernland came up with a very nice concept and the presentations is just beautiful. Go and take a look.

This exhibition is part of the cultural program of Heiligdomsvaart Maastricht 2011.

Printed textile is a decorative art form, used for interiors as well as for clothing. The varieties of motifs often reflect the collective taste and Zeitgeist of a certain period. Printing textile is also a complex industrial process and as such dependend on innovation, mechanisation, research and technological progress.

European textile printing finds its origins in the India of 2000 B.C. Indian fabrics were introduced through trade (East Indian Company) to Europe. The attractive use of colours and motifs seduced the European public, hungry as it was for anything exotic.
The fabric was also a good alternative for heavy silk, wool and linen. The demand for these new fabrics quickly exceeded the supply: a booming copying economy of Indian fabrics was born. These Indiennes (Chintz) were adapted to European flavours.

Until the end of the 18th century motifs remained mainly derivations of the original floral pattern from India, but the industrial revolution at the beginning of the 19th century brought about radical change. Under the impulse of science and mechanisation, the printing of textiles became an industrial process still expanding today.

In contemporary fashion we find a variety of prints, depending on trends. They vary from references to historical patterns (landscapes, floral and bucolic figures) to innovative, experimental motifs. It became the trademark of a diversity of designers such as Emilio Pucci, Dries Van Noten, Hermès (carré) and Missoni.
